Spring Break: Teen Mission in Mexico
The title alone sounds like cauldron of trouble for parents and a vision of freedom for teens. But in reality, it was an opportunity for our church youth group to learn the importance of service and how they could help others. Our Spring Break teen mission to Mexico was about creating lessons that would last a lifetime.
After a long day of travel from College Station, Texas, to Piedras Negras, Mexico. adults and teens were ready for bed. The hall way of our quarters was a nightly obstacle course of shoes. One can only imagine the odor after a day of work in the sun.
Our group was broken into three teams. My team was tasked with giving a small local church school a face lift. Locals turned out to help and were very grateful for the restoration effort.
The teams also were assigned the task of having Bible lesson activities for local children. We did games, crafts, and had groups singing praise songs, all with the intent of sharing the Gospel.
Though our teens were making positive impacts on these children, I believe those children made a bigger impact on our teens.
